Hello everyone. I am trying to find out what kind of races my 12 year old daughter can get into. I have not raced in years and started having the urge to build cars again. When I raced them I was NEVER beat. I even was cheated a few times when judges said there was no way a car could go that fast, must have been electronic malfuctions. Anyway, any info would be appreciated.

Welcome Stroker! This is a pretty fast bunch of racers. Many of these guys have never lost a scout race as well, you'll be in good company. It's really cool to see how well your cars do against professional builders. There is a gold mine of information here, enjoy, apply, race, learn from your mistakes and race again, it'll hook ya!

You and your daughter can both race with the NPWDRL!

EDIT: Unless you're afraid that your daughter will kick your butt. In that case, just let her enter and you can watch! /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

My daughter has raced here the last 3 races, but she's not your average 12 year old girl, right Blew by you?

Ha! She dang near beat you too Saturday from the looks of the scoring!

Yeah she's been pretty happy with her steady climb, but we're putting together a new ride and I'm going to point out all the flaws she can fix. Her goal is to be the youngest to make a finals. I just want to keep beating her

Thanks everyone. My dad way back in the day helped start alot of the tips and tricks still used today. He was really ahead of his time on it. And I have never raced in any scout races. I see cars winning today that are built like the ones we built back in 1985. Its going to be fun doing it again. Thats what its all about for me. Now I need to find where we can race that is in Texas. We are in college station.
Also, I have been looking at a derby wizard two lane track so we can test our cars out and race each other. Do any of you guys know of anything better?

Man, you don't just want to race local in the texas area. You need to think bigger is better and race the fastest in the country. Your old man sounds like an icon, you should race a car with us brother, help us out. Most racers that buy a track will get a Best Track, The owner of this league is giving 2 of them away this series. If you're looking for a race in your home town only there is a cub pack close to you that may have an open division for adults or kids who aren't cub scouts during there annual PWD race. http://www.pack1069.org/ With the knowledge of your dad you should test it out at a larger scale, especially because it's all about the fun! It is a ton of fun to watch the race live and chat with other racers as your 5 ounce car screams down the track faster then the Delorean back in 1985! Next race is sept 12th.

Hey, an Aggie!

I lived in College Station, many many years ago. Didn't actually attend A&M, but it seemed like everybody else that we met did. /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

I'm telling you your really going to have to step your game up, we are thrilled with her new build, and it should blow the doors off her old cars. It's very pink and sparkly, if she beats you you have to use a picture of her car for your avatar until the next race, up for the challenge? If you win, she changes her to your choice!

You should come show us how it's done since you've been doing it like this for 30 years. We'd love to race with you. To be honest, we have someone come along and say something like this every couple of years. No disrespect to you or your father intended Ace.

Peace,
Kinser

Got no problem with that, at all 561. But I have got to get some wheels, brother! These things are worn out! I think I placed my order the day after Kennedy was shot. Evidently the Warren commission has them and is using them for evidence. Obviously, Oswald fled by Pinewood Derby car!
If I can get my order, then here's what I propose: If I lose, then her car picture becomes my avatar until I beat her. If I win then she has to title her car, "can't beat Blew" until she beats me again.

That sounds like a deal, tell that warren commission we gots us a race on the 12th.

lol, I hear ya kinser. I've watched alot of videos on youtube and I see how far it all has come over the years. Looks like everyone has stepped their game up. It will be good to be at a level where there are other cars that can beat you. It all started with us in a church group call the R.A.'s. We started local, then raced statewide. Won about four years in a row out of the Texas wide races. Thousands of cars there every year. I raced scouts, other leagues. Just plain never beat. Back then my flat cars with longer wheel base and waffer wheels were considered weird and ugly. They got the job done though. Me and my kid are just going to see how we can do these days. Look forward to racing some of yall in the future.
