After running our district race for 3 years I changed the rules and allowed the use of Krytox for the first time ever. After all it is sold in our local scout shop and also avaailable online per the national scout shop. OMG the guy that use to run the race is having a holy fit....swears oil will be everywhere on the track...despite one section of the rules stating excess lube that sheds on the track if prohibited. They way I see it I'll have a microfiber towel and pipe cleaners ready for people if I see it oozing out of the wheels. I've sent out memos to all packs about proper oil use....but this old timer still says I'm wasting my time...to him it will still be all over the place. Geez

Hate to say it but graphite leaves so much more of a mess than properly used oil. Doesn’t take much oil but I’ll tell ya... at our churches Awana Grand Prix all the wheels on all the cars came away from that race with their wheels coated with graphite. Up here in MI there is actually a sanctioned Awana Districts where it is oil only. It’s faster and cleaner. Times they are a changin’!
