[Resophonic Racing]

Guys,

I've never used this software before and I'm helping a pack this weekend with their race. It is the new version 13.0. If they want to do a random race with all the ranks what is the best way to set it up. I was looking at a demo version today, I will not have access to the full version until Saturday.

Do I set up the pack up as a group and have the ranks as a sub groups? Which option is best for a random race?

Let me know what you think. They have a six lane besttrack and champ timer. I'm assuming its like most software with the option to select the timer and lanes. Is there an icon when the timer is connected?

Hey Reso, I'm going to jump in here, but I'm still learning too. I had it fairly mastered over thanksgiving break but I need to relearn. I think I had the Pack as a group and the dens as sub groups. We have a small pack so I practiced running the whole gropu together. ie. bear vs wolf since and I think the computer sorted at the dens at the end. I see I'm going to have to get back amd relearn some, our race is in two weeks.

I used the Perfect-n scheduling. I hate to say this but I peaked over somewhere else that I wont say out loud to read up. Hopefully someone pops in here. I'll study back up so I can help better.

Step one for me for learning the software was having the timer and start section hooked up. I made a manual start switch and reset button so I didn't need to have the track at my desk. I did this at the comfort of my desk. I'll use an old laptop for the race.

Step two. I entered a whole bunch of dummy names and ranks to practice the race. Note: Have your roster set up with everyone known to be racing before race day. this will save much time race day. If someone doesn't show, don't pass them trough the inspection page and it won't race them.

Step three. I sat there at my desk and "ran races" IE flip the start switch then flash my hand under the timer. I practiced rerunning heats in the event of a DNF or off track whatever. This was the biggest help for me. I think you'll find once you've worked your way through the procedure, you'll catch on pretty quick.

We only have a two lane track so it fit at my desk quite nicely. biggest mistake I have seen is when people try to start learning the day of the race. We have only used the software successfully at the pack one year. The derby chair spent a lot of time learning. previous attempts failed because the operator spent insufficient time learning. Most of us here have seen the software work in its finest. If you've been unfortunate to see it run poorly, then you wonder "why aren't they using simple paper brackets.

The best thing to do is run test races until you find the setup. I have to relearn every month it feels like.
