Just got home from a great couple of days in Milwaukee! This was my 6th live event since starting my racing career and must say, 1 of my favorites so far. So many live racers showed up and was real great to see everyone welcoming the new racers, sharing info and most of all, having fun! The racing turned out to be the best I have seen. The scout class was decided by .0001! I know Quicktime finally got the SS Pro title that he so much deserves. Joel has helped so many racers and he really is a huge part of making the NPWDRL events run so good. Thanks for all you do Joel. I am not sure who won the SP class because i was too busy talking. Finally, my good buddy Zeebzob took the Unlimited title. Zeeb has been a huge part of my racing career and really owe him for everything. Zeeb has been building some real fast cars lately and it finally paid off with a Unlimited national title! Zeeb, you deserve this title and I could not be happier for you. Thank you to everyone that showed up live and especially to everyone that helped out to make this a great event.

Who won the BEST TRACK!!!! I want to talk to that guy/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

You guys in the Milwaukee area did a sweet job, and are some great people! Thanks for all the work that went onto this event. It was fun meeting new people and putting some faces with names. The racing was great and so close. Congrats to all the winners, to those that set new personal best, and most of all those that participated. Thanks again!!!!

Well, I just awoke from the coma I was in after the exhausting weeking of great racing. I cannot even begin to say how much fun I had. It was so great to meet alot of new racers and get to know the ones I have looked up to for years. The competition was fantastic from racers representing so many different states, leagues and countries. (Welcome Canada, aye!)
Seeing the behind the scenes stuff that goes into putting on a races was eye opening. Just the packing of cars when the race is over gives me a whole new appreciation of the work involved each month. So, 2 lessons learned.....1) pack you cars well with your name written on everything with proper shipping labels, and 2) you only need 12 volts for the start solenoid, 24 is wayyyyyy too much! Thanks QuickTime for all the work you put in on that!
I was fortunate enough to have come away with the Unlimited title. Other than a Turtle race a few years ago, it is my first taste of victory and it was truly an overwhelming feeling. You all know I would not have been able to even come close without the help of my good friend Ian "Goat Boy" Tomlinson. Thanks for everything, man! You are a rock star in the pinewood world.
Derby Dad...thanks for putting the trust in us out here in the Midwest to have this event. Its your name and reputation on the line when things go wrong, I hope we served you well.
Lastly, I was proud to have all these top racers come to Milwaukee for the weekend to race these little cars. It's actually pronounced Mil-e-wah-que, which is Algonquin for "the good land"

Zeebzob

P.S.
I don't think I saw it mentioned anywhere, but the overall Champion for performing the best across all classes went to 5 Kids...congrats Scott, you deserve it for sure!

P.P.S.
My legs hurt.

Looks like it was a great event I hated that I didn't get a chance to watch any of it. Huge congrats to QT and all the winners.

What a great event! A big thanks goes out to the guys that made this happen! Zeebzob, GoatBoy, Quadad, DD4H & Quicktime just WOW! In the 4 years I have been racing I have NEVER saw any event that compared with the quality and competition of this race… just unreal… I think everybody that made the finals of any class should be considered a national champion because damn… that was some tight racing. Every division seemed like it came down to the last race to determine who made the finals and who were the final winners. Congrats to all the winners!

I will have to say one other thing, we are very lucky to have Quicktime on the NPWDRL crew helping with the events and staging our cars. I saw him stage like 300 cars over the weekend and I can assure you that he is getting the most speed out of all of your cars and he is treating each and every one of them like his own. I know I would not have done as well across the board without his help….

Personally, the best part of the weekend was seeing the dividing wall between leagues start to crumble. I was thrilled to see guys from the PWDR, NPWDRL and APR all come together and race as a big happy PWD family. Thanks to Evo, Spacewalker, Casmier and Ca$h racing for making the event. I know there will always be differences between leagues and racers but the event was so much better with us all there. I hope this showed everyone that we can all play together. Great job by all.

This was our first big race so I do not have anything to compare it to, but I will say that my family and I had a fantastic time. All of the people that we met were very friendly and personalble. The race was run like clock work. First Class all the way!

Goat boy, it was really nice talking with you and your Dad.
Zeebzob, thank you for all of your help and Congrats on your victory.
Quick Time, thank you for the staging lesson (after competition),
5Kids, Cash, Space Walker, Rocket Car, Quad Dad, Knotty Racing (.0001 Don) and Todd it was good to met you, and everyone else that I spoke with but can not remember your names.

Special thanks to John at DD4H for all of the effort you put into this sport. I especially appreciate all of the good advice that you gave me and the top notch products that you sold to me.

As a proxy racer, I can tell you that watching the feeds was pretty exciting as well. There's a moment of suspense as you see the cars staged and then wait for the computer results on the other feed. It looked like all of the racing was incredibly close (was blown away by the unlimited class). I recognized Dale on the feed but didn't know the other racers, but I agree that it looked like the staging was always done with care.

We came in 8th in the scout class and we figured a top 10 would feel like a victory. Our moment of excitement was when we were watching a heat with Jr's car and he saw it lining up with full fendered cars...and he said oh snap! But then as we paused for a moment to see the results we were then high-fiving once we saw that he won his heat. So that moment alone made it all worth while.

I can't imagine the effort everyone has to go through with the unpacking and packing, so we tried to ensure that everything was labeled and make it easy to get everything out and back into boxes. I can say without a doubt that if you're not using the shipping boxes like you can get from DD4H and other sites, it's the least you can do not only to protect your car but make it easy on the organizers.

We hope to be able to arrange to be at next year's event live cause it would be great to put faces with names.

Nothing against the other racers, but we were happy to see Scott and Dale do well cause they've both offered me an immense amount of guidance. Cheers.

One more thing about the race that was a special moment for me.

I overheard my youngest Son who is 7 years old say to my oldest son who is 18 years old, " I hope one day when I am a Dad, that I have a boy that I can help with Pinewood Derby".

Priceless!

Thanks to everyone who supported the event and all the hard work. There is a lot of pre and post event work that people often don't even realize is happening. I will also say a big thank you to your families who supported your efforts and I expect probably helped a lot also. I expect they made some sacrifices so this could be pulled off.

Even on the live feed watching the racing was exciting. That last race of the unlimited was something special. I really thought Goatboy had enough of a cushion to win even in the slower lane but it was really exciting to see Zeebzob pop to the top after that last race.

I guess all of Quicktime's cars were not turds after all. It was great to see him win the SS Pro class.

Congratulations to all the winners. I usually am doing things in the morning and watching also. Later in the day I get to watch more closely and get in on the chat activity more. I did not see the Scout finals although I wish I did.

Quicktime is a staging maniac. I don't know how he does it. All day long................ It is like watching the robotics assemble things in a factory. Just repeating it over and over to perfection.

DD4H on the camera too. Repeating the process over and over all day long.

This was my first national and I went in person. What an experience!!! Everybody welcomed me despite having a disability. ZeebZob blew me away by helping me put together 1 car for the Street Pro class, he was so meticulous. Talking to all the builders, looking at all the cars, taking pictures was the best experience. I had a dad and two sons ask me for advice and I shared my knowledge and showed them car parts, and put them on my scale and explained why and how they make your car faster; this dad said I gave them knowledge to go back and build a new car for speed.

I raced 2 cars in Scout, both lost, raced 3 cars in Street Pro, all lost, raced 1 in Unlimited, lost.... I gained knowledge and respect and will go back and see if I can find an extra gear in my cars to make the top 20%.

Great to meet everybody, having dinner with 6 of the top builders at midnight was awesome!!!

Ian is the man!!! Thank you for staging in Unlimited for me

I can attest to how good QuickTimes staging was based on post race testing. I should have let him stage my car during the races. It's definitely good for a few thousandths on my car.

I think the Street Rods were the coolest to watch and it was an eye opener to the effects of the air on certain cars. Some would run good on both outside lanes and when in the middle would shake like crazy. It was hard for me to imagine "dirty" air prior to seeing it in person on the street rods.

Everyone I met was great, willing to answer questions and offer advice. This was my first league race and was a top notch event.

If anyone ever gets the chance to go live for one of these events, I would highly recommend it.

Even though I was going live to this race, I picked up one of the "league style" car boxes for my car. I haven't seen anything better. It should be a requirement to use one for proxy racing. It will only benefit all involved to use one. With no less than $80 in a car it is criminal not to use a $5 box to protect your investment.

Much to learn yet.

This was truly a great event. I know John was very nervous about this event, but I think with all the great people locally here we were able to calm those fears. Lucky we have people like zeebzob to host the race, Quad dad to fix all things electrical and lots of great volunteers to help everything run smoothly. It was so nice meeting all the great racers. I gained more knowledge from this event, even QT's new oil process. J/K He wouldn't drink with me (darn it )So next time I will be more competitive.

Now as for the Milwaukee's best car. No Zeebs it was not Milwaukee's worst. It was Milwaukee's 2nd worst. Believe it or not this was my best car. The car ran fine the day before and horrible race day. This just shows how hard it is to be competitive in this league. Congrats to all the top racers. You people rule!!!

A special congratulations to Zeebzob for winning the unlimited class. All I hear him say is " I suck, I'm not very good ". No you don't suck buddy, today you proved that . I've never seen a racer so happy to finally win a race after years of competing. I wish everyone could of seen it. He was jumping up and down and yelling like a teenage girl at a "new kids on the block" concert or like John (DD4H) at a Miley Cyrus concert.
lol

I hope everyone has a chance to attend one of these races.

P.s. B.H. If you were there, I know who you are now!

Awesome event! Thanks to all who put their time and effort to make this happen! A BIG congratulations to all the winners!

Huge thanks to everyone who made this event great! It was nice to meet a lot of you in person and pick up some new ideas. Extra thanks to QuickTime for staging my cars...while I sat there and watched. I think I finally understand the right way to do it now. Sorry I couldn't help out more...but the wife only signed my permission slip for 8 hours...

I’m a little late to the party, but want to say great job to all that put this together. And QT thank you for treating my cars like they were yours. It really shows you guys care about the racing quality and not just about yourself winning.

And to all the guys that where chatting, thank you keeping me entertained. There were a couple of times I laughed out loud and the wife looked at me a little funny, but it was a good time even though I couldn’t attend live.

Look forward to racing you guys in the near future.

This was a great event indeed! Being live and seeing all the behind the scenes activities definitely brings a new appreciation of those that run this event. To see what actually goes on to make this event possible is amazing from setting up & tearing down the event area, unpacking and then repacking all the cars, prepping the track, the list could go on and on. Hats off to all those involved, Zeebzob, DD4H, QT, Chief, Quadad, 5kids, and others I may have missed, Thank You! Great job!
