Well here's the final chapter for this "How Not To Do It" story.
This whole story I think proves that even for a first time racer ...what can be done even with a ton of mistakes made along the way.
These two cars, one rebuilt from a failed (didn't make it to the end of the track) car the other built from scrap pine from the first, both weighted in part by "educated" guess work, axles with bad bends, wheels that were not properly prepped and badly graphite lubed ... In fact hardly lubed at all.
The results :
"COFFIN NAIL" - Basx Class (not sure how it got in this class, was registered for Eliminator)
Not totally as bad as expected given the steering axle have a double bend that drags.
TIMES : 3.0596 - 3.0676 - 3.0728
"INVADER" - Eliminator Class
Better car, but almost no wheel prep and cheap (but polished) axles.
TIMES: 2.9519 - 2.9518 - 2.9490
That put this rolling junk pile only off the other three other cars in the heat slightly less that 0.1000.... Cars built by Pro racers.
So now I'm cranked up to see if I can get from 2.9xxx to 2.8xxx.
Thanks to everyone that helped out with little tips and encouragement and congrats to all my fellow racers for their excellent runs and wins !!
