Groove depth

Making grooved axles, any suggestions. I am curious how deep the groove should be?

Some people think deeper is better, some think just enough to eliminate contact. I don't think anyone knows the real answer. Deep enough so the axle won't get fragile is what I would tell you.

Thanks DD, would you think I could test out both by interchanging axles or would this contaminate the assembly. When you have prepped a wheel and axle I assume they should stay marred together or I would risk getting the funk inside there when I take one out and put in another??

You can try and test it but there are a lot of variables that come into play everytime you take a car apart.
