Our rules require us to use stock axles and graphite. I was thinking about trying to groove axles this year, but I thought I'd ask the group if it is worth it to use grooved axles with graphite.

but if they pull the axle, you will be DQd.

It is worth it to groove the axle, but if your rules say stock axles, be careful purchasing aftermarket axles.

Let me clarify my question. We have to use BSA axles. We can not use aftermarket. I was considering cutting a grove in the stock BSA axles. So I guess my really question is, is there a benefit to using a grooves axle with graphite?

It then depends if it permits axle modifications......if the only requirement is stock axles....I would pre shape them leaving them as large as possible in diameter and then prep in your best technique

If your rules allow, you should consider buying vintage axles. In 1985 the axles that were provided in the kits all measured .090-.092”. If your rules require axles directly from the kit but don’t have a specific size requirement you will find speed with these larger axles.

Have you never had a car your down because it was faster than the others?

Just because it might not say it, didn't mean they won't tear it down.

No only because our rules don't have any cause wrote in them for removing parts for verification....the guy that writes the rules tells me he won't write a rule if it can't be verified...so he never pulls axles or wheels cause he never includes any min/max measurements in the rules. Just sayin
