How important is wheel gap?

Only one set of guages is required...a "go" set is .0002 under listed size and the "no go" set will run .0002 over just pay attention to what you are measuring and for what end.

What are + - pin gauges? McMaster has in .0005 increments - https://www.mcmaster.com/23055A002
They are either. 0001 under or .0001 over their rated size. ( it may be .0002. I'm not 100% on which. I've heard .0002 but my micrometer says .0001.) Anyway... So a .089- gauge pin is actually sized .0889 and a .089+ is actually. 0891... I believe that's what they mean by "Go" or "No Go" pins as well. The Go pins are slightly under and the No Go are slightly over.

In all honesty, testing and classifying wheel bores to a .0005 +/- tolerance is probably bordering on the ridiculous... I mean when you think about it we're talking about pieces of wood, plastic wheels, and nails. But that being said, It's the ridiculous level that we've all taken this to that makes it so much fun.

Thanks for the input. Yes it is a bit overkill, but it seems like every aspect of a car is now a critical issue. :-) And your right, it is fun. Just my work bench is getting pretty small for all the new tools. :-)
