I just bought a set of scales and a calibration kit. I decided to weigh out my tungsten cubes. I was a bit surprised to discover that, at least in my case, that 2 oz of 1/4 cubes is not 12 cubes but thirteen. Is this normal?

If you go through and weigh each of your cubes one at a time, I'm pretty sure that you'll see that they all don't weigh the same. If somehow you managed to get a whole batch of light ones, I could see where you'd be off by that much.
I do as BracketRacer suggested and weigh each cube then sort by weight. Of course, you'll find yourself buying more tungsten than you need to get the heaviest cubes. This can allow you to fine tune the car also. I've heard there are two grades of cubes out there with some being denser than the other. The dull ones don't seem to be as heavy as the shiny ones. I've seen weight swings of over 1+ gram between the heaviest and lightest cube.
