How much difference with the axle make?

I am looking at getting just a set of 92 dynasty axles for my boys car. I ran well last year and used all of teh DD4H stuff on the out of the box wheels and axles and we were quite fast. I cannot afford much this year and will be gettign stuff out to build cars this weekend ( hoping that none of the polishes have dried up over the year in the garage). Over a stock axles that has been polished nothing else different but the axle how much gain should I expect with the 92 dynasty? I know it is larger in diamiter as well as very smooth to start with. I am trying to decide if I need to spend the money now or not.

1. Those stainless axles can stand a lot more banging around , and for sure can be used for many years and do wonders for stability and fast speed.
2. Next I would get BASX, and if rules and wallet allow,
3. go for the Cheetahs down the road.

What's tour wheelbase? How is your wheelbase positioned? What wheel mold # are you using? What are your wheel gaps? Can you use washers? What is your steer? How was your polish stored? What type of polish are you using for step one? Are you using Q-Tips or something different? What about your final bore polish? What bore polish are you using? How do you clean it out? Are you using oil? What type of oil, DD4H Krytox, Jig-A-Loo, Teflon spray, 3M Silicone Spray, some other spray, or graphite? Is it Johns graphite, or some other graphite? What type of track are you racing on? Is it wood, aluminum or plastic? What's the slope, is it a gradual slope or steep slope? Is the track set up well or are there bad joints in it? What's your process for polishing the axles? Are you going to be using grooved axles? Is your block drilled? Who did it and with what? What about your DFW? What degree of bend does it have in it? Is it a slight or a large bend? How is your COM? What weight are you using, tungsten, lead, or something other? Are you painting the car? Are you cutting it out to make it a ladder style? How thin are you making it? How wide are you making it? Are you using fenders? What kind of fenders? How big are they? What are the gaps for the fenders? How good are your skills at tuning and building? I'm sure there's more. /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

I'm not trying to be difficult. I'm just trying to point out that there are to many variables involved to give you a definitive answer. Will the 92x axles be faster? Yes! I don't think anyone can tell you by how much. But everything depends on everything else here. It's the right combinations that have to be figured out. Only you can do that. /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

I'll give you an example of the frustration that can go on with these cars. I preped and was in the process of tuning my Eliminator, I had bought a nice set of wheels and preped them with great care. I could not get the car to run any decent times. After about an hour or more of messing with and tuning the car, I decided to yank the wheels. I put the old wheels on it. They were dirty in the bores and were not repreped. Five minutes of tuning and the car was back to it's old times. What went wrong? I have no idea to this day. /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

This is the same type of theoretical question as, my car was this fast on this track, how fast will it be on the NPWDRL track. I'm sure there is probably some complex mathematical equation that could be worked out by Einstein to figure out these questions. But if one single variable is left out even he couldn't answer the question. I'm also pretty sure there are no Einsteins here on this board, though a couple of guys might be good. If you can, I always recommend getting the superior parts to the inferior ones. Good luck! /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

^^^ Lol, thats the kind of post that could make a guy throw his hands up in the air and give it all up! Poor guy isnt going to get any sleep tonight. I know, because I;ve been going through the same thing since I joined this forum.

Correction...There is a so called "Einstein" here on the forum, in fact he is smarter than Einstein. This guy has forgotten more about PWD than Einstien could ever know. This guy makes Einstein look dumber than all those people from are you smarter than a fifth grader. Just ask him he will tell ya. His name??? Mr. ButterNugget...thats his name....HAHAHAHA what a load of BS..(thats boy scouts)

I've been there and got past it. Once in a great while I'll have an idea that lingers in my mind before I go to sleep but I don't let it get to me anymore. /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

I think Kinser has said it all, he is dead on correct !!!!! These little cars will drive ya crazy if you let them. So just have fun with it all, just enjoy the the ride of learning how to make them go fast, one little tweak at a time
