How much tungsten weight do you guys try to get in your cars? I've been trying to get 4 oz in mine but don't think I can do that and run fenders. what would be the better option more weight or fenders? I'm starting to think that I should probably spend more time polishing wheels and axels than worrying about one cube of tungsten weight
hmmm

In my opinion with this Xtremely fast league you need as much tungsten/lead weight as possible, and you need to focus on all the aspects of the build process. Each little detail can gain you a tiny amount of speed, therefore, every little step will add up in the speed department and might gain you a tenth of a second which may seem worthless but that one little tenth is the difference between first and fifth or worse. I think the computer timer reads to the ten thousandth so EVERY little detail is crucial if you want to compete! Also, what wood block are you using? Sugar pine is lighter and that is what the top dawgs are using. Take a look at the pictures and the videos here on the forum and study them well and I even take notes on what and where I saw/read it! Best of luck to ya

I heard the same thing and I agree!!! However, if you run fenders DO NOT make them like I did where they weigh a half ounce each HAHA
idea
I won last place

It has been said that 5 oz is 5 oz. Most of the top cars run fenders.

Try to keep your fenders no higher than the wheels any higher in my opinion they will do more harm than good.

Build good fenders or buy them from DerbyDad and weigh the car. It really is that easy. I don't worry about how much tungsten I can put in it. Five ounces is five ounces. /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

I agree 100%. The winning Street Stock last month was lead weighted with about a 5/8" com and NO it did not have even weighting on the rear wheels. It was not drilled out and filled with balsa. It was a solid properly drilled car on a Proxxon that has NEVER been checked for square. Go figure... If doing all that stuff makes you faster then look out! We aren't even close to hitting the end.
