What you guys need is a wind tunnel calibrated to 10.5mph to test your ideas. A smoke machine and a load cell for drag and go to town.

That is taking this hobby to a whole new level....

It can be done by someone.

A typical mid-pack SS car like mine is going 15.432098 ft/sec peak or 10.523 mph at the bottom of the hill and tapers off to 14.57726 ft/sec or 9.939 mph at the finish.

How do you come up with this? So now I need to learn how to make a wind tunnel and get a track and get multiple timers. Can I get some sort of speed gun instead? I need to go back to dumb's Ville. Population one. So much for a simple average. That is typical for this hobby. One would think it is simple. I see where my calculation went wrong. I may need to brush up on my calculus and aerospace degree.

Good to see Chips back on here.

At least I can make my own wind tunnel for under $100. Thanks NASA!

How did I come up with this? I have a six stage timer in one lane of my track.

LOL Bulldog ! I have never heard the term "dwang". With the context that it is in, though, I am thinking it pretty much means the same as doink

The MN Science Museum has the exact setup for this. It's a wind tunnel with smoke and allows you to choose from 3 or 4 different car body shapes that you swap onto a fixed mount in the wind tunnel. It has a gauge that measures the drag also. For the last 2 yrs whenever we've gone there I've thought about asking them if I could bring in a few cars. All they would need is a 1/4" hole in the bottom to mount it to the machine.

Maybe I should bring a few bodies with me next time and just do it.
