INPUT

Two things:
1. Two years ago, you apparently had two cameras, one from the side, and the other like you now do. It would be great if that could ever be done again. The side view should be shot with the camera close across from the finish line.
2. I like it when you can leave the screen up longer so we can see both the results as well as the "on deck". I liked it when I could see who was going to be in the next race b4 the race occurs.

One thing that I can think of right now, it would be nice if the results/on deck screen could be PIP (picture in picture) without interfering with the race video. When I watched the April race I was using my laptop for the chat window and using my desktop to view the race video. I still cycled back and forth between screens at times. There may be an easier way to do what I done, but this is what worked for me.

What improvements would I like to see........hmmmm. After pondering your request I finally came up with the answer! What is the one thing the NPWDRL is missing. What could possibly make the best even better. The answer is simple:

More Cowbell!

blah

Seriously! More Cowbell!

As mentioned by OPARENNEN a camera shot across the finish line would be very cool. I remember when you first did it and it was great. It was one of those things that hasn't been done since by anyone.

I'm thinking BIG here... Don't know if there's enough space in your garage, but I loved PDDR's two video cam setup. Main camera from the side--panning as the cars go from start to finish. The camera down at the stop section was just for slower motion video for when the video was posted online. Two video cams. Two camera men. A lot of work. A traveling circuit like in 2012 so all the burden isn't on your shoulders. Maybe Downslope's and Goat/Zeebzob's track, and maybe a cross league race with Cash's new league. More sponsors. NPWDRL is the largest most elite league in the country and you would think MicroWizard, Boca Bearing, Grand Prix Race Manager, the Judge People, Maximun-Velocity, and Derby Monkey Garage would all want to be part of this BIG thing. Maybe you need to hire a marketing professional. Dreams for the future... A state of the art racing facility with tier surround seating. 3 live TV camera's on your own cable network. With professional host MR Chips doing play by play, color commentary, and interviewing the pro's during intermissions/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

This my first year of racing and I really have nothing I would improve. I see allot of people commenting on a second camera. Maybe that is something that was good. So I will go with that.

Pass time- list the specs guess the time- win prizes
Tuning board games-pic a number hit the mark or guess the tune?
Live builders challenge- build a car live within the time limit and race.
Bracket race- pit cars from different classes against each other.
Npwdrl pro trading cards- this would be cool!
Npwdrl flex fit hat or hoodie- I would buy both
Npwdrl logo tuning screwdriver- I would get one

I want to see the "FLYGIRLS FROM IN LIVING COLOR"
[video]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUzs_xLhGp8[/video]

This would defiantly get more people showing up live. I know I would travel.

It was one thing when all you got was 50 or 60 cars a month. It is much harder with the volume we are getting. The video side takes a lot of time with just one angle. I did like the finish line cam. I might bring that one back.

The circuit was a good idea but the task is much larger than people realize. I learned for the final time not to put my name on it unless I have full control of it. I have been running races for a long time and doing my best to keep the highest level possible which is very hard to do as you can see by all the people that come and go. This is my life and every thing that goes wrong directly effects my business. Running league races is a double edge sword. People that win or do good are happy, people that don't curse you and start a new league. Cash had a chance to work with us but chose to keep the separation going. Some people can't let go of the past and will always keep the separation going. I am not going to promote and help build other peoples leagues when they never reciprocate. The new guys here don't have to deal with the troublemakers that have torn our hobby apart. All I can say is be careful of the bridges you burn. I am not making people choose a side but please let them promote and build on their own the way I had to. Nobody has been giving you a quality racing venue for as long as we have and we are only getting better and stronger.

Tony, I challenge you to make a few calls to some of these companies. If they are DerbyWorx affiliated then they are not allowed to help us in any way. I would love to hear what they told you. As a group and with Best Track we are collectively making our giveaways by far better than any other venue.

As for sponsorship. I have about 3 to 4 irons in the fire right now. I have one that is going to step up. Right now I have had 2 meetings with the local Ford dealer here in the town I live in. Got a 3rd meeting this coming Monday with their Marketing manager and owner of the company. So like John said I challenge you to make the calls. I know there are others out there pound the street to try and get sponsors. I applaud you all and thank you for doing what you have done for this great hobby.

I have said this before and it usually falls dead, but I will say it again since you are asking…

I think finals field should be determined by the top 4, 8, 12, etc.. builders not cars. However, I don’t think you should only take a builders top car to the finals, I think you should take all of that builders cars that qualify. So you may have more cars in the finals then the original 4, 8, 12, etc…

I think in events that have trophies, plaques, prizes, etc… that those awards should be given out by builder not by cars. I will use Goat Boy as an example here, but I mean no offence. GB is the current National Unlimited Champion, but he is also the 2[sup]nd[/sup] and 3[sup]rd[/sup] place… I mean he is the UNLIMITED CHAMPION! enough said… that is the top of the mountain and the 2[sup]nd[/sup] and 3[sup]rd[/sup] places don’t mean anything to his credentials in my opinion…. But those 2[sup]nd[/sup] and 3[sup]rd[/sup] places do mean something to the builders that fell behind GB’s cars. As you said John people like to succeed and do well and this just allows for more racers to be recognized.

The reality of the situation is that most of the guys here that run in the top of each division could build multiple cars and have them all in the top 10 in the standings. They are not racing flukes and they are at the top for a reason. I am quite certain JB, QT, GB, Stone & Spirit could sweep the majority of the top 10 spots if they chose to run that many cars. I think spreading the wealth is a good thing and those guys are only looking for #1 anyway.

I agree with this post, it would be nice to a have a few more builders in the finals if one racer has multiple cars that qualify.

OK, I now have an idea. The finals will be made up from the top 20% builders or 4. After the prelims we will go down the standings and find where the cutoff is to get the top 20% or 4 and allow that many cars into the final round. This way it will exclude a builders cars that don't qualify in the top group but it will get 8 different builders in. Finish spots will be awarded by order of finish excluding multiple cars by a single builder, in essence you take your best finish.

Sounds like a great idea to me... The NPWDRL Nationals will have more cars in the SS finals than other leagues have or have had for the entire month. I better take the Friday off before Nationals and get to Wisconsin early because I don't think you are going to have enough hours in the day to run everything on Saturday.
