is 1.6 toooooo low to go with the wheel weight?

I have a friend with a lathe. He's catching the addiction this year too with me now that his son is in scouts.

I asked if he could take the wheels down to 1.9 g and he is kicking out 1.5 and 1.6, but I'm concerned that maybe they will flex and or lose their integrity someway/somehow.

At 1.5ish, some of them have light shinning through and I don't intend to use them, but thought I would get some feedback on "how far to go"?

That said, I was thinking the front may go lighter for weight reasons and the fact that less weight is riding on the front relative to the back. Does anyone use a thinner wheel in the front for the same reason? If so, suggestions?

The SP wheels typically weigh in at a paltry .8 grams or less. Tread gets too flimsy and will flex, this is why the SP wheels are reverse mounted. Reverse mounting allows the wheels to ride on the stiffest part of this wheel.
 
If you're going that light you need to run them reversed in the rear with spacers. If your scout rules don't allow washers then you will probably need to stay around 2g. The spacers needed for reverse wheels will most likely be classified as washers.

Yes, inside the wheel also. For the NDFW, we have it down to about 1.3g ish. I don't want to make it too obvious. Not because I'm trying to keep it a secret, I just don't want to hear someone saying we cheated etc.... (we follow all rules, but sometimes that doesn't matter as many here know)
