Tank of Fire by my Tiger Scout
Fender Bender by my Bear Scout

Special thanks to Steve/Mister B Racing for sending the used lightweight wheels for the mid body of the tank car! My Tiger thanks you!

Sharpie paint jobs done by my boys with my wife's assistance!

These cars are running oil with axles in the slots as per our rules. Used the Silver Bullet and steady hands to drill into the slots to get the desired 3 degree canting in the rears. Worked better than expected with good wheel migration.

These are also my very first fender cars, used the DD4H Sugar Pine fenders on both cars, there was a lot of concern on my part that I got the setup right, I think I did a fair job shaping and mounting them.

Pack race tonight!

Ka BOOM! That is just a great looking car. If a boy works a lot on his car- it always turns out "his" car and not Dads car. There is plenty of things Dad can help to get car faster, but it is even better when the boy does as much as possible.

Couldn't agree more! I had both boys design and help cut and sand bodies, sand and polish axles, weigh car and add tungsten, and of course name and paint.

We ran a garage day 3 weeks ago and we introduced a number of boys to real power tools for the very first time, it was very cool.

The only parts I did by myself was the fenders, glueing my fingers together with CA glue, and driving my wife nuts running the air compressor apparently on a school night!

Boys managed to finish First and Second in last nights race!

The Fender Bender dominated by winning every heat it was in. The Tank of Fire was a close second, only beat by Fender Bender, about a 1/3 car length behind. 3rd place was running another 2/3 back. This was on the pack's 35' Best Track.

I think the middle wheels were rubbing on the tank, so I'm going to add some spacers to get them away from the track's guide rail, then in a few weeks we will be off to our District Race!

A few photos from the race! Here are the cars from the race...
