That does make some sense. I forgot silicone and be considered an inert ingredient depending on the %.

Murph is a fellow with a gazzillion ways to try to get speed with lots of prep steps. If I ramble too much, Mr. Chips calls me Murph. I do not know the magic step Quicktime discovered, he just said he did. You can use the search function to go back over lots of good posts on these ideas.
LOL, ok, I just went back to re-read the post and see what you were getting at. So does DD4H now sell Ouija boards? I guess if he said it would shave a few hundredth we'd be lining up ;-)
dang right if dd4h told me to put dirt in the wheel bore before shoving the axle in that it would make me a few thousandths faster then i would do it.
Now that I've looked at the MSDS for Jig, I had to go pull the MSDS for the silicone spray we use at work. I'm assuming that one of the "magic" ingredients is the polydimethylsiloxane? The stuff I'm already using claims it contains 5% of PDMS by weight (along with Acetone, 35%; Heptane, 45%; and Propane, 15%) so I may not see a benefit from buying the Jig unless there's something else in the can that somehow enhances the effect? Now I have to get a can and find out!
I received my 10 cans of Jig a loo today. (3 oz) The cans are different than they look in the picture. (taller & skinnier.) Most of the lids were cracked but the cans were undamaged. It does say "made in Canada" on the cans so I guess it is the same stuff. I haven't had a chance to test it yet.
Cam-Car- I just got my cans of Jig, and just like you said,"most have a cracked lid". All my cracked lids were strangely identical. A weird "Y". Now even the boys from The Adventures of Bob & Doug McKenzie: Strange Brew, would have caught a manufacturing problem like that- so it probably occurs after it ships. My guess is the shipping boxes holding the cans cannot take much of a load, and if you stack the boxes, the load pushes the lid of the cans in the bottom box down so hard it cracks the plastic when stretched over the lip of the can. I also suspect they allow a very high % of regrind plastic in the lid that weakens it. They also have a design flaw in that the ribs inside the lid to give it strength actually cause the crack when the top is pushed down, each rib puts a lot of force against the wall of the lid and one of them will fail, but the failure point is always at a rib showing the cause was the lid getting pushed down past a limit that is not forgiving. Contrast that to the lid of a Krylon clear coat can that could take an elephant stomp and still stand.
Well, unless I figure out a new process in the next couple of days I won't be sending a car with Jig on it to the Nationals! I went from an average of 2.723 on my track (35/32ft) using my old process to 2.731(!) with the Jig. I cleaned the wheels and axles and reprepped my old way and it put out an average of 2.719. If I let it sit a few days it'll slow back into the lower 2.72X's which is more representative of how it should run after the ship time I suppose. I don't know how you guys are doing it,............... yet!

Well... I guess when I'm up that way next week I'll be scouring the hardware stores to up my supply for $6.99

Hey, I may have a few cans to sell. Unless I can figure out how to use it! It did work good on the basement door hinges, though!
