I was going to wait until the Fall to try my first "pro" level race, but given the new "SCOUT" division for first time racers in the championship race, I made a last minute decision to build a couple of cars for that race instead.
I've never built fender cars before, so I tried one with the "nellie faye" style fenders (have no idea why they are called that) and one with separate fenders.
Spent the whole weekend building these 2 cars and all that is left now is to let the paint dry and get them weighted and tuned. I have no idea how fast they'll be, but they are some of the better looking cars I've ever built and playing with fenders was a blast.
I'll have to admit, the chance to win some great prizes, even as a proxy racer, at the championship race was some incentive as well. John really has some nice stuff lined up and that grand prize (2 lane best track and timer) is spectacular. One can only dream.......
