last minute tips

It's really hard to say. I'm assuming that time is on a 42' Best Track? Dont know the angle of your track. The only thing you can do is ensure your wheel and axle prep are done to the best of your ability. Car is done to the best of your ability and it's tuned to the best of your ability. If it wobbles, add a little more steer. If not, then leave it alone. It's really the best you can do. If you add more graphite make sure to spin the wheels.

Oil or graphite? Rail runner? Wheels flat or canted? Have a Dixie cup on top with the open side facing forward? Wood or aluminum track? Center rail?

I see it's an RA Race. Hopefully some of the guys w/ RA/RR experience can chime in for you...

So, is this a Royal Ambassador / Royal Ranger car or was the "ra race" portion a typo? I saw in your earlier post that you'd purchased a plug-and-play body from DD4H?

+1 on what O.D.D. said.

Make sure the wheels are mounted close to the body — 1/32" (or a credit card's thickness). Don't be sparing with the graphite. Add some to the hub, spin the wheel. Repeat. A lot of times. One more puff of graphite into each hub right before turning the car in.

If it is an RA/RR car, I'm not sure about any other special considerations for it.

Assuming a thin car with standard RA wheelbase we have had great success at 3/4 CM in front of rear axle - using 3 to 5 inches of steer in 4 ft.

Each car is different and if you have a test track play with staging the DFW very close to the center guide. We even had one that preferred to start touching the center guide. Again each car is particular and there will be some gain to make if you understand the best possible staging configuration for your specific car. This all assumes you or son get to stage at the race.

Good luck!

Run it like you built it. /images/boards/smilies/wave.gif

So if I built it like a champ and it runs like crap, does that mean I'm the champ of crappy building?

Congrats on 2nd!

Sometime we get to a point where we have to run what we brung. But, to answer your question, I guess you could say that. /images/boards/smilies/biggrin.gif
