To all of the guys that raced or have raced,

The best thing you can do is race yourself. Improve if you can. This takes time. Sometimes it's a step forward, sometimes it's a step back. You should not expect to race and win right away. There are going to be some fast months and there will be some slow months. Don't quit! This is fairly inexpensive for a man's hobby, keep at it and have fun. If the majority of people who have lost, then quit, nothing would be here. John had a difficult time when he started racing. Quicktime didn't come right in and win. I lost many races before I figured some things out. You guys can do this, it's fun! Don't take it so seriously, just have fun. Should I quit racing in SS? There were Novice cars that beat my SS time. I'll use that to drive me! You should too. There is a point to racing if you don't get faster by the next race. Racing, keeps the drive in you and keeps you in that competitive spirit. You guys are great. Sometimes everyone just needs a little pep talk. This is Yours! /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

Well said Kinser.... Well Said...

You just heard one of the best tell you that some of you are pushing him to do better... That is AWESOME!!

I agree. Race against yourself. My cars this month ran poor, but this is not stopping me from trying to figure out where I need to pick up some speed. I will return next month with faster cars even if I only gain 2-3 thousandths of a second, I'm good with that, it's step in the right direction.

Right now as I see it, in all the classes I ran, I about .020 seconds off the pacesetter. I can't make that all up at once, I'll nibble at it until get that .020, I'll get there. I promise you! Lately I've made more steps going backwards, but I'm not discouraged, only confused. /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif Time to reorganize and move forward.

OH horse "Dookey"...Slow month my EYE....all my months have been slow... AHHH who cares!!! Kinser is right on the money here, I have lost to almost everyone but I dont care who wins or looses, I just love building cool @$$ cars and starting up new clubs for slow racers. If you are slow then you get to be in our new club, called "DMC" . The "DOOKEY MOBILE CLUB" HAHAHA
Oh ya and the best part of the racing is the chat on the Live Feed. That is the best, right PAPA???

Kinser you are right on the money. After reading your response on my post and then reading this post I am taking the bull by the horns and just race myself. Cheif I will be at the next meeting. From one Airmen to another Aim High and Bleed Blue.

I used to be an Airman too!... Oh and Kinsers right, but chief can I join you club even though I only had 1 race?

Kinser, well said.

I was thinking it. But it sounds so much better coming from you.

May I also remind everyone with the new start gate, times a approximately .02 slower than last year. So a 2014 Sub3 is essentially a 2013 sub2.98.

Now being the owner of this months dookey mobile, I want ya all to quit bellyaching 'bout how slow you are blah blah.
blah
Fix it, tune it, get the cat hair out and send it back in.
bruce
That's what I'm going to do. Although it'll most likely be May before the dookey is ready. cause face it I'd really like to make a SP that's not slower than everyone SS and SR
beatup

.02? I would have said it was closer to .007 or .008.

Doesn't really matter though, every racer needs to strive for their own personal best each time and if you can do that, eventually you'll reach your goal. Many competitors will tell you that you learn more from your mistakes than you learn from your victories. There is PLENTY of help available on this site!

I was just using some casual quick math on "known" cars and tendencies. Starting with the unlimited (mine), and at the Distribution of the SS.

The year I started, I called John, and got the names of the other "newbies".
Once I finally crossed them of the list, I made a list of other builders who were only slightly faster than me.
And so on and on. However, at a point, I got obsessed with the UNL class, and put 90 percent of my energies there.
Problem, all of a sudden I was performing good in that class, but my cars in the SS and SP classes deteriorated.
So now that I feel good about my unlimited s, I am going to concentrate on ELIM.
Eventually I will get back to SS and SP, Which in my opinion are the hardest classes to get into the top 10.
In March, there were 100 cars in SS. If you have a goal there, try to make it into the top 20, which will take about 2.9800 to crack into. That's a good but difficult goal. At this time, my SS car will need to pick up 1/100 to get there.
A 100th of a second is about 1.3 inches I think.

It was my first race and not my last!! MY goal is to improve on the next race a fair amount. My car only ran a 3.015 so being that slow there is room for improvement ( a lot).. Well said Kinser !!!
