Lightened wheel question

I am about to order some wheels for the Mid America (hopefully it still happens) and this will be my first time using lightened wheels. Should I go with the DDH Mid America wheels or a different lightened wheel that may be more rigid? Afraid of wrecking expensive wheels in the prep process.

Also, the way I typically remove wheels is just gently pulling on the wheel. Not sure if this how everyone does it, but I've never had luck with pliers as they damage the axle heads. Again, with a lightened wheel, do you need to take different precautions when taking a wheel off?

Any and all help appreciated.

DD4H wheels would be my choice.

Push the wheels from the back side. Slide your fingers around the hub & pinch outward.
Most have grooved axle heads so you can twist to get it moving.

Thanks guys. Definitely using DDFH wheels, just didn't know if I should go with the Cheetah cut or the Dynasty versus the Mid America wheels. Yes, was planning on one grooved axle for the DFW. Having never used grooved axle heads (our local BSA stuff does not allow it), can it help at all at working the axles out?

I would cut some axle access holes in the bottom of your car body. Then all you have to do is use a small screw driver and push out the axle enough so then you can use some MV axle pliers for the rest. I don't like to push on the back of the wheel like that, because of the slightest chances of destroying the outer hub especially on very light wheels.

Yeah. You should be able to get it out with a screw driver if there’s a good slot in the axle head. But like DerbyBoyz said, drilling those holes will help as well.
