This is my first year where I'll try using Oil on the axles on mine and my boys cars and I'm a little paranoid I'll end up with lint on the axles. (I've read its so important to have clean axles that some people use a jewler's loupe to make sure it's clean.) Does this only matter for you national racers who are looking to shave off .0005, or is that for us small-time cub-scout and awana racers too? I've read any amount of lint will slow it down when using oil, and that makes sense. I guess im wondering how much it will slow it down. Would the presence of lint on an oiled axle slow it down to the point that graphite would be faster?

Thanks for the response John. I have the black ice wheel prep kit, but I didn't buy the axle kit as I already have sand paper through 2500 grit and then diamond paste through 10000 grit. Should I use anything between the 10000 grit paste and Max-Pro Silicone, such as a wax? I could even use something from the black ice kit if it would help.
