Low Cost Pinks Race
Will the class be called "Old School Stockers"?
Remember this was not trying to start up a new class... This is for those who wanted to get involved with a Pinks Race at a lower cost ...

hmmm
... but, wouldn't a special class not have to be generated for this??? They certainly wouldn't be mixed in with the rest of the classes. Maybe categorize it as a "special event class", that happens once per season???

IMHO this should be a race held within the SS race, out of box scout axles, can be filed sanded and polished, out of box wheels, only bore polishing, no tread sanding, lathing, ect. Any lube your choice. You can drill the block any wheel base. Any type of weight. Those who want to pink race put their name on the list your random get paired up with someone else, whoever wins advances to the the next month to race another winner, this goes on month by month until there is one winner. You lose the race you lose your ride!

With no disrespect Quicktime, these rules are a disadvantage to someone like me and an advantage to someone like you.... how about no bore polishing, no oil, run them dry...

I am just kidding with you, but you will notice that the person that makes the rules always makes them favor themselves. I did it when I suggested using Street Pro rules and if you have a new super wheel bore prep method then you did it too...

I think the rush in a Pinks race is putting it on the line. I mean a car you have some cash and time in. On another forum a guy joined and said his cars were more advanced than anything we were running. He never sent a car in but said when he did no one would be close because of all the technology that went into his cars. He touted that he dominated locally as well. So I called him out a few times in a Pinks race. After several months he took the challenge. I was scared I would loose my car because I wasn't the fastest. But not the slowest either. I could see him not wanting to run against John or any of the top builders. But he did race me..... I don't know how John feels about this video? But here it is. I mean the past is the past. PS: He told me he was running an extended wheel base but I put my car on the line anyway......

I'm fine running graphite, or nothing. Win or lose his would be fun. I'm very confident in my graphite prep, in fact how do you know the new process isnt a graphite process? The way I laided it out was more because you don't need advanced tooling. I've got the tools to make a SP car but the majority don't. My thinking is if we could extend it out for a few months build more action and excitement it would be good for all. It's easy to buy a wheel and say I cut it. Not so easy to take a stock wheel and say I have taken anything off.

If twenty people send in cars wanting to be in a pinks race, you couldn't really run it as an eliminator style race could you? One person wins all 19 cars? Would you just have pre-arranged "grudge" races only? Or would you progess through a bracket style eliminator pairing where if you win the round, you win your opponent's car? So you keep going until you lose your own car or win the final round? The winner would still amass quite a pile of cars. How many shipping labels would you need to send? I'm thinking the pre-arranged thing would be the way to go to reduce a logistical mess. Two men enter...one man leaves....two men enter...one man leaves...

That was just a idea, to keep the competitiveness going. If you win your round you win the car you beat. You don't lose your car till you lose a race. So yes you can win a few cars if your fast enough.

I hear you and you have good points....

Some will still be able to pick a better set of stock wheels then others and still have an advantage. I think a good race would be one where the racers used their own skills to make the fastest $5 car. I am sure I am in the minority... not the first time and I am sure not the last.

I could make kits with 4 Zinc Speed Axles, 4 Max V wheels, sugar pine block and a Legend Shipper for $10. I like the idea of the Max V wheels because they are much better quality and would be even for all.

Rules:
No cutting the wheels in any manner. Bore polishing only.
You can groove and polish the axles anyway you like but the tip of the blunt end must be visible.
Any wheelbase.
Standard dimension and weight rules.
All 4 wheels must be used and mounted in whatever position you choose but the car must roll on supplied wheels. All wheels must spin on the supplied axle.

These match races could be set up UFC style and held separate from the monthly events. It shall be called URC!

There you go ... John has set it in type ... /images/boards/smilies/thumb.gif/images/boards/smilies/thumb.gif/images/boards/smilies/thumb.gif

That is going to be one fun run URC .....
