Is this drill press comparable to the Proxxon?

They are very close. The Proxxon comes with the collets. By the time you add them to the Micro Mark the savings is gone. However with the coupon you might come out ahead.

My perspective on these two is that the MicroMark is a typical Chinese machine tool with lots of nice features (relatively large table, greater HP/torque, variable speed, depth indication, longer spindle travel, etc.), the Proxxon is a European build (Luxembourgh) that cares more for precision and less about features.

Should you get a MicroMark with perfect alignment, then you will be fortunate to have the best of both worlds. If not, all you have are the features. From what I have heard, the Proxxon can need some attention as well. John would know as he uses them.

The Proxxon is very nice. My son and I drilled a few blocks today with it. The Collet feature is important.

Hi guys, I'm enjoying this thread. My good wife gave me a Proxxon for Christmas and I haven't had a chance to use it yet. Y'all mentioned a Collet feature. Is that more accurate than using a drill chuck?
