man...so much interesting reading as i pour thru the forums!

Does anyone know if the 2013 Mid America Derby is accepting forms? or if anyone here is going to participate again like last year?

Id like to try to see if I can put in my son's car and his sister's and depending on how enthusiastic and gung ho, maybe an open adult car....(not pro definitely for me LOL)

Thanks for the link! I sent an email to midamericaderby and just got a reply saying that they havent started online registration yet but it should be up and running by the end of this week or next week, if anyone is interested.

That is correct... I did just reply to that email... I just handed things over to the Council "Web Guy" to modify and change some of the steps in the registration process -- he is creating the new web form and I was told that Scout Camps are in front of me... and then our registration will go live... hopefully it is this week - possibly next week... but the good news is that it is soon and as soon as I have that part of things functioning along with some updated forms on Proxy Shipping / Labels / Etc... we will be making a formal announcement - but some great news there are some VERY Exciting NEW Changes for 2013 - that will make the 2013 Mid America Pinewood Derby - even better!!!

I have spoken to John about many of these changes and we hope he can again make the trip to Omaha and we look forward to providing an AWESOME race for all of you. There were some mighty tight races last year... so close that we had a tie for 4th and 5th place down to the 10,000th of a second on an average composite time in the preliminaries.

Can anybody explain why the following isn't allowed in the modified class? This leaves my "Unlimited" car out....

Mid America - Modified Class

2) Wheels

A. Razor Open Plastic Type

The following modifications are prohibited:

6. Wheel bearings

I had no clue you could send the cars to be raced the cars i have would seriously compete they came from derbydad

I was going to sned three cars to the April race but I was going back out now that I see i cannot get the car back in time to send to Mid America, any suggestions on how I can make this happen, i would love to get some laps in at both races.

My priority mail goes through Omaha, Where they're asking for the proxy cars On or before Wed. May 1, it would be close. But possible. I'm leaning towards building another car for league. The kids's cars would not go SS.

I was going to ask about shipping from John's to Mid-America... Thanks for setting that straight. You'll just need to put in an additional pre-paid shipping label to the Mid-America race and, of course, one back to yourself as usual.

The cars can get shipped from here straight there. You can race both.

In talking with John - there should be no problem having cars come from the April race to the mid america race... in fact if some of you need until friday the 3rd (not preferred) just let me know that they are coming and we can make sure that they are safely entered.

There should be some excellent talent - in all the divisions... and some awesome racing - let me know if you have questions I will be happy to help.

Some thing for some of you to consider... I have spent a HUGE amount of time tweaking and redoing our track - and polished the entire track - holly cow that takes for ever... but we just finished running a District race on the Track and we had some cars that ran very fast times... in fact my kids that were running Graphite only - using John's 92 axles, John's Nitro wheels, and the Red Rocket - along with the other million things you do to make a car fast ran the following average composite time... in six races dropping the worst time and taking the average of the best five... Scout Car #1 - 2.9586 and Scout Car #2 2.9573 - I can tell you that is the Fastest times we have ever run.

Not to bad on a 42 foot Best Track and this was the same exact track that we ran the Mid Amerioca Derby on last year... Johns products with the right combination of graphite are SMOKING fast... there were not any cars that were even close. Thank you John for continuing to be on the edge of producing the best products that seriously kick ass.

Truly
Greg

A little reminder from last yr. ( I think). If someone live takes some notes and puts names to leagues/ forums/ other shops (would Shop V even dare to show a car?) I could make another nice chart!
