We sent in my son's scout car (open scout/graphite) and an adult car (graphite) to this years MA. I knew we wouldn't be all that competitive since we were running BSA stock parts prepped at home against cars with aftermarket parts. My son finished 10th out of 18 (3.0205 average & 3.0172 fastest time) and my car finished 27th out of 64 in the adult graphite class (3.0286 average & 3.0266 fastest time). Running the numbers against the top finishers we need to pick up around .07 (scout) and .09 (adult) to be competitive, which are pretty significant numbers. I am happy with the our placement at our first big race outside the district scout derby but disappointed in the times.
I had a couple last minute issues that came up with my car that changed the weight placement and likely got sanding gunk in the DFW hub. I know my sons car's weight placement was also not ideal, but its the car he worked on and ran at his pack and district race with success and he wanted to run it at the MA. I am in the process of testing the cars now that we have them back and will post more questions about that in the near future - It might turn into a whole mini series of posts with all of the questions - LOL
