Some Cool Things
1. Dave and Busters gave us 500 $20 gift certificates to put in our Gift Bags.
Oh and they are bringing 2 arcade games!
2. the Omaha Children's Museum is bringing some kind of 14' mechanical dinosaur.
3. BBQ was ordered today for my party. /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif
4. I'm trying to setup an over head camera (standard camera with timelapse) of the whole place so
people can get a feel for how big it is.
5. I'd like to get another camera in the Lego room so everyone can see kids building and racing Lego cars on a real Pinewood derby track. (run by Lowes, yep lowes hires people to come in run it for us.)
6. We have the traveling Pinewood derby museum with 1200 cars again this year.
7. WalMart gave us another 100 matchbox cars for our gift bags.
8. Mangia Italiana will be bringing food this year for Friday night corporate race. Man it is good!!
If your coming come Friday night too!!! /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif
9. Oh We have a speaker Joe Garigola (from Pinewood Pro) coming to talk about the history of Pinewood derby and will be calling Don Murphy's Son on the phone!! (founder of Pinewood Derby's Son)

Check us out on FaceBook, pictures of all the free stuff being given out.

Tech news:
Pulling wheels off the top three winners of each Graphite only race to stop Oil.

The Mid America Pinewood derby committee voted to do this. But after much thought, texting, late night calls and reaching out to some of the pinewood derby community we decided not to. But promised ourselves that we would pull some. If we think there is a possibility we'll do it.

thanks
Shawn

Shawn... kill the graphite only rule. Simple. There is no need for it.

I hear ya, it'd be nice if the scout council would rule across the board. But you know that would never happen.

I can just hear them now, but Oil is way to messy!! lolol

Hi Shawn...thanks for the plug for my talk on Pinewood Derby Evolution.

I gave this talk at Mid America in 2013 for the 60 Anniversay of pinewood derby racing. This year we will liven it up with audience participation and giveaways.

Yes, we will get my good friend Donn Murphy on the line during my Saturday talk.

Pinewood Pro will also have a table setup with some artifacts and cool cars, plus a slide show of "Your Pinewood Derby Story", a collection of stories and images that runs in the Pinewood Derby Museum.

Stop by and write a few lines about "Your Story". The things kids write are just priceless. We take their picture and photoshop it together with what they wrote. So everyone can be part of the Pinewood Derby Museum.

Looking forward to seeing you all in Omaha!

Shawn,

I'm looking forward to your after party. I missed it last year, but made sure to book a later flight so I can be there. It should be another great race.

I sent a proxy car, but the event sounded so cool, my son and I decided we would make the 8 hour drive and go. We are really looking forward to it. Is there a schedule of events on Friday? We only entered one car in the pro street stock class, but we are going to enter my son's cars in the Sat. Scout classes. It looks like the street stock class is going to be held on Saturday. That said, we were still planning on going on Friday. Beyond the racing on Friday, are there other events on Friday that we should plan on attending? Thanks!

Great to hear!! It truly is a great thing to see and be a part of. Friday I believe Pro racing starts at 12:00 and the corporate event starts at 5:00. Free food and racing! /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif (We ran the Semi trucks after the Corporate race last year) Very cool!!

Sometimes you can go to live stream and reind the raw footage and watch it all, but Greg will make a video of the scout race and post it (actually, I think the Iceman does it), but someone will.

As a side note, I saw your car and it made it here with no problems. It really looks nice. Its all checked in and ready to go on Saturday. Good luck.
