Missing Shipping Box

I was really looking forward to today's NPWDRL Spring Fling Race. That was until this morning when I got a message from Joel. “Please check tracking on your shipping box, we have not gotten your cars.” The last recorded tracking was April 7, 2016 – St. George, UT. Package out for delivery. But my package has not been delivered yet and my cars did not race in the Spring Fling Race.

I have confirmed that the delivery address I used is correct. So I have opened up a Case File with USPS to try to find my package but according to the case report that will take between 3 and 5 days for USPS to investigate. So in the mean time I will have to gather receipts for all of the parts I bought for these cars in case if I need to file a claim.

Prime Time is missing – Unlimted car.
Dark Myst is missing – Eliminator car.
Iolite is missing – New Eliminator car.
Demon is missing – New SP car.
Odds Zonn is missing – New SS car.
Big Beautiful Wheels is missing – BASX car.
BASSIK is missing – BASX car.

What do I do now? I have no competitive cars to send to Nationals! I have no parts to build anything new for Nationals. It's time to take some time away from racing and regroup.

My shipping box is under-insured, that's on me and I'll probably lose quite a bit of money, but I'm hoping the box turns up somewhere.

But what bothers me the most about this is the response from the USPS that is in Zeebzob's comments on the NPWDRL Forum. The Postal Carrier thought she delivered everything but because of all of the other packages being delivered she didn't scan all of them.

Kinser, I hope this is something you talk to the racers you are mentoring since most of them are probably racing by proxy.

Post office at their finest. she had alot of packages and didnt scan all of them /images/boards/smilies/frown.gif to bad for her. they just raised the flat rate postage recently and they cant be bothered to follow their own procedures. sorry to hear about the lost package. you obviously cant rebuild all of the cars in time but you could try to rebuild 1 really good one.

I over insure always. It's about $4 more.

All - I have sent John a PM thanking him for his generous offer, but it is too soon to be thinking about replacing everything. I am hoping that my box was perhaps sent out on the wrong route and was not deliverable. I opened a case file with USPS to find my box but that will take some time for them to investigate. Then if the shipping box is truly lost then there is the claim process and who knows how long that may take.

Anyway ... Since my most competitive cars are not available to me I still need to think about Nationals. I will build a BASX and a SS. I need to order axles, axle washers, and wheels for both.

So I will have at least 2 cars at Nationals.

OK fellow racers. The mighty USPS has acknowledged that I have filed an inquiry as to the whereabouts of my shipping box. They haven't done anything yet, and my cars are still missing but I do have the acknowledgement!

Hey Mr. B ..... I do alot of buying and selling on a retro video game forum and have heard nothing but horror stories about dealing with usps claims, stay on top of this and i hope it works out in your favor.

I've had a couple packages lost or damaged by the USPS. In all cases, they paid the claim promptly as long as I was able to provide the requested documentation.

I always insure my cars for their replacement value. Good luck Mr. B. Hope your cars are located.

I am not sure about damaged stuff, but for my missing shipping box I went to the USPS site, clicked on HELP, clicked on CONTACT US, and then clicked on WHERE IS MY PACKAGE and filled in the online. A day later I got an email that a case file had been opened and they listed the file number to use for all communication with USPS.

Agreed! This is the same documentation I had to file awhile ago. Process went real smooth and was paid rather quickly. I was impressed with this side of it. I was thinking it was going to be a 4-6 week ordeal and it happened in less that 2-1/2 weeks.

Documentation is the key to the whole process.
