I've been hesitant about sharing my build because I've only been playing with these little cars since March and I didn't think anyone would want to see my stuff. But then it hit me- I enjoy reading every build post I see regardless of that persons experience level. So here I go, please remember because I'm new at this I'm open to any helpful criticism- I want to learn.

For me now that I know my laser can cut every piece to my body that's where I start

Now it's time to assemble. It just occurred to me I might not be able to use the 1" diameter washers I cut for air gliders. I think I read somewhere the inner wheel needs to be visible.

If you're racing in a league then those shields will be fine since they will pull a wheel to weigh it if you win. Some scout races (like Mid America for example) require clear shields since they don't pull a wheel for inspection. Always pays to check the rules for your race! Build looks good so far! Seems like you have a lot of extra wood around the DFW though?

Yes I agree. Although I didn't post a picture I did remove some of that mass to lower my body weight. I think in one of my previous pictures you can see that it was removed. Thanks for the input.

Because I work on my builds in the evenings at home but my track is set up at my office I use this tackle box for easy transport of my gear

Very nice thanks for sharing! I have some questions - what type of wood are you using? I have to admit I have no clue what the small square cut outs are for- I gathered from the picture that the long rectangular cutouts are to glue in by the support beams- is this just for extra support? Would balsa wood serve the same function or is it not strong enough?

Although the wood you see in the picture is all basswood I did change out my fenders to balsa to save the weight. The small rectangles are just spacers so I can position my air sliders at the correct depth in the wheels. They and the 1" diameter washers are all cut out of 1/32 basswood. I tried the 1/32 balsa but they were very fragile

I realized like ten seconds after I posted that question that the squares must be for the air sliders, sorry, should have thought more before I asked. Do you try to angle the sliders at the same angle as the wheel? I've never worked with them before but hope to soon.

I'm new to this stuff so I'm still learning but yes I'm trying to slightly sand my spacers at an angle so it Is at the same angle as my wheel. I'm finding it difficult to install them without having some contact with the wheel. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Next it was primer and then paint. I tried the monokote but wasn't able to figure it out. Maybe on my next build I'll be able to figure it out. I'm finding, because the stock bsa axles are so bad, each axle needs tuned individually. I will be cutting grooves in each of my three active axles next so I can tune them individually. I'm thinking the bend needs to go straight up

Lookin' sharp there!

Were you trying to use the iron-on Monokote or their trim sheets? The iron-on stuff is tricky to use and tough to fit around the fenders. I found it works better if you have a cover on the iron. A washcloth and a clothes iron will work if you don't want to spring for the special iron and cover. I prefer the trim sheets though. Much easier to put on, like a decal. No iron needed.

I use a gage pin that fits just snug in the axle hole and a short length of Delrin rod, drilled to fit the gage pin and turned to fit the hole in the shield, to mount the shields.
