What I can tell you about Red paint is that it is pretty transparent, and a lot of people just hammer it on and then it takes forever to dry and the top dries first and then it will dye back causing it to fade, that is where you get the pink from. For me, I have had the best luck with Krylon for rattle bomb paint. For maximum coverage I use a medium gray primer and then several light coats of red until I get the shade I am looking for. Rattle can paint is difficult as you can not regulate the atomization but not impossible. However, paint your red first and then mask off what you want to stay red and then paint the black. Black covers very easily, but again I would put it on in thin coats with about 30-60 minutes between flash times depending on room temp. another idea is to paint a piece of scrap at the same time, that way you can mess with it and if something goes wrong then not a big deal. It sounds really cool and would love to see a final pic!!
