Need Advice First Car

Well I have some questions to ask ... Now we are going to head into the Derby Car .. So baby boomers hang on .. lol

So here I go..

Building a car for street stock -

Type of wood- I do have several pinecar blocks I can cut?

Suggestions on thickness- I plan on using 1/4" weights - If cut to 1/4" and add planking to top and bottom of car to cover weight area.. I have seen cars done where car is milled out so the top is left solid then cover or fill bottom of car. Is there one better over the other?

Length : Should I plan to use 7" maximum allowed.

Width : Not to exceed 2-3/4" Stay with this or a bit under to keep wheels closer to rail to prevent side to side wobble?

Weight Placement- certain cars show weight placement in front of axles and a cut out in the rear of car behind axles. What I gather if correct is based on (COM) and balancing of car as to how much in front of axle and if needed you use the back slot?

Wheel Base- Extended more stable? with the above width adjustment... Rail Ride?

Axles/Wheels- I will order from DD4H ..

Well this gets me started until I can order DVD . Hoping end of mnoth .. X-ing fingers for a good bonus this month...

Well I did nothing but hang on-line with the racers today.. I had a BLAST & I did not even have a car running..!!!I was able to cheer lead for those I knew or met ... ZEEBS he is a riot ... Chief & Quad thanks for explaining some of the things going on. I hope I was not to wild out there for the first time being in the live chat ...

I really appreciate the time you took to talk to me on the side.. You gave some really great info and support and advise to get me started...

There was some awesome racing allot of fun poking and teasing true spirit of this board and racer... I for the first time saw the fast cars in action... I thought one was doing so well today.. I was informed this racer always does well in this class.. man talk about Cool..

As I told Quaddad I have a small group of people who want to help pitch in to build a wood track to help give some of our kids something else to do (video games, TV)... Getting together building, testing, and racing is my goal for our Church and others in the area.. I always thought we could do a Church challenge for our youth & anyone who wants to get involved But this is in the works ... So getting a car and this completed is taking time.. LOL ...

I will see you on the track this I will promise as the PWD bug has bitten me hard today!!!!
