It's race day for districts tomorrow and my wheels and nails have not come yet and I'm panicking. My brother has a set of wheels that are perfect specs for the rules but he ran them 3 or 4 years ago and they were prepped with graphite. He won council with them but my question is because this is my last option how do I prep the wheels for oil if they have graphite. I have tonight only to get these ready.
In a side note- I used ca glue on my wheel bore area on the body and it has set overnight now what? How exactly do I prepare he area- I know sandpaper and then what? Maybe johns #1 polish? With what do I polish and how exactly to polish the area? Thanks so much for any help and advice!

I would clean them really well with alcohol and dawn and re prep them like they are new wheels. As far as the ca glue, I would sandpaper with 2000 grit then #1 polish and follow up with #4 or just sandpaper and then use #4.

Thanks for the quick help! With the polishes #1 and 4 On the body-hub contact area what exactly would you use to apply the polish to the ca glue? Tamiya swabs? Maybe a buffing wheel in the dremel? Would you wait to put the car together for a certain amount of time while that cures? Thanks

for #1 just apply some to a microfiber cloth and buff the glue with some elbow grease or you could use a dremel for faster results. For #4 just apply some with anything really and then let it haze and buff out. I wouldn't worry to much about cure time since the race is tomorrow.

With the wheels being prepped with graphite I would start like a raw wheel. Polish the bores with John's #1 and #2 to get the graphite out. Then wash them out really good and put the #3 polish in . Once wheels are used with graphite it's really hard impossible to get it all out.

Great news! I just got the wheels and nails in the Mail! Boy talk about cutting it close. So tonight I will be putting the car together again, sanding/polishing the hub areas and doing a quick tune. And off to the races tomorrow. It was bitter sweet last night because I ran the car down our 35'best track straight out of the box from the pack race to see what time it was doing comparatively on our track. First time down it did 2.464, then. 2.462, then 2.461 and I couldn't break the 2.46 barrier but this was exciting because our previous track record was around 2.475. Anyway the bitter came because I then had to dismantle the car because It doesn't qualify for the district rules
