Just thought id share a short impromtu experiment....just got in the axel, wheel polishing kit and oil from DD4H (along with the DVD) and was itching to try out the process. Took a pretty junk car that I made in like 20 minutes (from extra parts I bought a while back from other sites before I found DD4H), my son uses it to play crash derby with other toys or jumping it off the table to crash into other cars or blocks)...the bottom line is this thing is slow, not aligned (all 4 wheels visually look like they are going different directions)....no polishing of wheels and axels....and when run against my son's"real" car that he made for his pack, its at least 2 car lengths or more behind on my short plastic test track (no timer unfortunately).

Took the kits and I only wiped down the axels to make sure they were clean and just sprayed them with the blue dupont spray and let dry for 15 minutes. I then took the wheels (which were obviously beaten up quite a bit LOL) and just did the second bore polish (rocket polish), and only did it once (John recommends doing it twice and letting it dry over night I believe) and then buffed it out and then immediately put two drops of oil and installed the wheel and spun it and stuck it onto the car and reran it against my son's "real" car and lo and behold...its now as fast (and in a the last 2 runs out of 10 total runs) actually pulled ahead by a slight margin.....

If it can do this to a "clunker" I can just imagine what it would do for a properly prepped car which is the next thing I have to work on, hopefully in time for the march 16 NPWDRL race.....

Just to qualify, The junk car did was graphited but farther back than my son's real car so the initial difference also had some to do with his car being better tuned....I also likely did make some adjustments to the wheels a bit when I put them back on (in one case I had to adjust because it wouldnt go back on otherwise LOL...and I didnt put the same wheel and axel combination back into the same position on the body...as such this was not a very good controlled experiment and some of the improvement is also likely due to better alignment or perhaps better axel wheel combination etc....but I still dont think one could deny the apparent significant effect of oil....

That is cool!
