I just received the new pinewood derby kit and the blocks are 2/32 longer than they should be. The wheel base is accurate, but there is an extra 1/32 on the front and back. Watch how you drill your blocks! The new kits come in a new designed box. The wheels and axles appear the same. The bore is about .096. The .096 pin gauge fits easily, but the .097 did not fit.

Pony Express, if your kit wheels are all 0.096, that's a good start ! I have heard of some molds getting larger bores than before. We used to use 1/2 thousandths pins (which can be ordered for around $2 each) around the common bore sizes to check where they were while trying to match the rears as best as possible. There is always LOTS of variation in PWD kits. After opening up numerous cases, I can attest to that.
