Our Church is having a PW event early next week. Last night, a father called me (pretty much at the last minute for my schedule). Result:
The boy and I through together a BSA car in 3 hours using a bunch of my cast off parts. E.g. Old Jewke's nails, a body that was cut too narrow, 2.7 gram wheels I use two years ago. Because of the time limitation, we had to use this old stuff, because we didn't have enough time to prep lighter wheels, or do the axles from scratch. We just polished off the nails with Brasso, put Red Rocket on the wheels, and polished them with in minutes after applying RR. No Jig, but we did use oil. Result, the car ran 2.9898 on my test track (time adjusted to equal the NPWDRL track in Utah). We did a single test on the test board and set the drift at 12 inches over 8 feet.
Couldn't believe it. So I took my SS car from the last NPWDRL event to see if timer was off. It wasn't. It even did better than my RED FLAG (which isn't really doing that well anyway), But it did make me wonder. I think sometimes you just accidentally end up with the right combination without ever knowing why.
