In the past I have always made rail runners.
With the addition of new rules this year it looks like rail running may not be an option.
"NOTE: Axles may not be altered. Be sure axles are mounted to allow wheels to run straight."

My first thought was to cant the back wheels as usual and narrow the front end. except:
"Wheels must be mounted at the normal width of the block of wood before it is altered,"

This is on a wooden track with center strip 30'-35' long.

I want to stay within the rules. Any idea's?

Here are the rules:

down where it says building your car is says you can drill your own holes and camber axles..so you should probaly find out which is it

hmmm
Axles? Said no alterations...did not say you could not polish them up super nice, and I have never seen a straight axle come out of one of those kits...ever so slightly bent never hurt anything...

Wheels? Said they had to run straight...not flat???

Body? The body could be sanded or cut very gradual so the DFW spot was set in 1/16th the inspector would never see it. The rules counterdict themselves, one section says 2 3/4 inches and the other says the distance between the wheels is 1 3/4 inches?

Lubrication??? Did not read anything on this at all so OIL all the way!

Sometimes Rules are mixed with suggestions, and sometimes the thought behind it is to stop a fast racer, and sometimes it is to help a kid NOT have a messed up car. These added instructions do NOT seem to be to stop a rail runner on oil, but to warn that if you bend your axle too much, or whittle your car too thin, you will have trouble going down the track- so try to run straight and try to keep off the center strip. If you grove the axle, that may be too much of an alteration.

Thanks for the great ideas and suggestions!

I made a call about the new rules.
I'm waiting to hear back.

I see its a wooden track. Do u know if it has a hand throw start gate? One year we did and a friend of mine made a wheelie bar on the front out a piece of wire. When they turned the handle he would b gone 1/4 car length before anyone else. If its spring loaded don't worry it want work
