Hey guys just switched one of my basx car’s over from the old style wheels to the terminator wheels. The car is still really close to where it was, but a few thousands shy of its best times. Is everyone finding the same? I just don’t want to keep tuning the snot out of it and risk getting slower before mailing it out tomorrow. I still have one more car to switch over, any tips would be helpful!

Thanks Rebel

New style wheels will always be slower than old style wheels, everything else being equal. If you're only a few thou off, I'd consider that an accomplishment.
Thanks mr skywalker! Just trying to step it up for my first official race. Didn’t want to sabotage my work... with that being said I better head back to my basement and finish the other cars! See yah on the hill next weekend

Thinking about what you said, I only have 30’ to test I wonder if the rest of the speed is lost on the rest of the 42’ track. I’m all nerved up now... Packed the cars up and shipped them this afternoon. I figured I would ship them today instead of tomorrow. Otherwise I would end up staying up all night trying to find more speed and wrecking them!

Nah. Remember that the advantage of the old style is its moment of inertia. Having so much of its mass at the hub allows you to remove weight further from the center and thus takes less energy to get rolling than does a new style wheel with a skinnier hub and less material removed from the portions of the wheel further away from the center. In other words, old style speed is found mostly on the hill.
