Does the non-DFW still need to meet the minimum weight requirement for wheels? Noticed some reversed wheels where the hub has been shaved down.

You must be referring to SS. Two grams gives some material to work with.

Instead of using your 4th 2 gram wheel for your lifted wheel, you can use a stock new style BSA wheel. They weigh 2.5 to 2.6 grams. The wheel will still weigh over 2 grams with the hub cut down and the wheel cover on.

Save the 4th 2 gram wheel as a spare.

Buy 3 sets and you have enough for 4 cars if you use a cheap stock wheel for the ndfw.

Since the wheel weight is checked on a scale to .1 resolution, the wheel could weight as little as 1.95g and still pass as a 2g wheel. Cutting the hub removes only a tiny amount of weight so a typical 2.05g wheel has enough room to shave the hub and still be fine. But I think running three good wheels down and a stock NDFW is better on the budget!
