Just got back from my son's AWANA race. He was the reigning, defending champion from last year. This year, with John's help, my son made his first rail runner. There were 58 cars entered this year (49 last year).
My son's car smoked 'em all. He ran 4 times during the regular heats and 4 times in the race-off. Those 8 runs were the top 8 fastest runs the whole night. Nobody even got close.
After the race, we had a few dads checking out the car and asking all kinds of questions. Some were asking about the tungsten weights. Others were asking if we polished the axles and with what.
We will probably race next year, but it might be his last. Our focus will now be the PWD District race next month. My son is on a roll. Hopefully, his car will bring home the gold. We definitely need a bigger shelf. There's no more room for the trophies!!
