Here is a pic of my latest car that I am building along side with my son as he is building his. I am not really sure if this car could ever be of any competition with you all but it sure is shiny.

Oh, is this the car you plan to race? I have always been told that "you can't polish a turd"; I guess you proved that wrong.

That is the block of pine right out of the cub scout kit. Slots and all. It looks like wood grain
but that is actually my paint . You will see it at CFC

As far as speed goes I have no idea how it will run, but as long as it is in front of the freak show by .001,I will be more than happy

I can tell you how that turd is going to run,
Very Slooowwww!!
It will be lucky to even roll the length of the track and cross the finish line.

Very Very Nice!
Give us some details on how you pained it, i.e. what kind of paint, and how did you apply it to get that kind of a design.
First off everything I use is high quality automotive grade paint. The car was primed then sanded, then I sprayed fire engine red single stage paint on it. Once that was dry, I sanded that with 1000 grit, then cleaned and sprayed red (with a gold cast) candy color on it. I do not wish to divulge my secrets on making the the wood grain looking streaks in it, besides that is WAY to much to type...and lastly I put two coats of clear on it. It will be at the CFC so you can get a better look if you are there. It looks better with the Yellow wheels on it. I am glad a lot of people like it, I like to have the best of both worlds...ya know lookin good and Fast too!!!

Can a person get results like this with an "air brush" or do you need to use an automotive paint gun?
I would like to teach myself how to do nice quality paint work and wondering if a double action air brush is the way to start.

Air brushing and automotive painting are at two completely different ends of the spectrum. I am not real good at airbrush, however I can hold my own with a paint gun. You can buy a mini paint gun but they take practice too. If you have an artistic ability like drawing, then airbrushing should come easy...you should ask fired up about that.. Automotive painting requires a lot of air flow and a very clean environment such as a paint booth. If there is a school in your area you might see if they have a night school for that. If you have any questions I will be glad to help anyway I can.

Excellent work there Chief, I'm a little late but am amazed by your mad paint skills; yeah I'm like you in liking it to be fast and beautiful but have a long way to go on both. I'm like XLR8 in trying to find a somewhat inexpensive way to produce a paint job that will pop. Thanks, I wish I could get up to Hoptown next weekend to see that beauty in person.

Thank you very much! I will tell you that everything is easy once you know how? That is pretty much key with everything haha! A suggestion, look around where you live and see if there is a technical school that has a night class for painting. You will learn a lot and it should not be all that expensive, and it is fun too. Just a thought?? If you liked this one you should check out "been busy painting"???
