The rules are a joke, that is a given and having these rules for "Pro" Stock is a even bigger joke. "No bent axles"! Who's rich daddy is influencing these rules so there kid can win. Lol (just a thought). 3 weeks before the race is being held and changing the rules again. WOW! One thing is for sure for everyone who is going and biting there tongue and having to suck it up. Your kid will not know the difference and have a memorable time in New York as long as it stays professional and it doesn't go to blows between dads and officials. Good luck to everyone at the race. If you want a real race with professionals, try one of the PWD leagues.
We raced 2016 in Pro Stock. It was a memorable event for my kiddo and for us as well. I don't understand why they keep changing the rules. They need to get some Pro's in there to help run the event. They did the same thing back in 2015. They completely rewrote the Rules that year adding a whole new class called Pro Stock.
They had rules that had been written for 2018. They had a Q&A PDF below the rules that stated questions and answers that made no sense, because again they were not pertaining to the rules that were written for 2018 . This week they decided to add the Q&A part into the rules changing them.Just curious, are they re-writing rules after the rules for this year were released or are they updating last year's rules? If you have built a car to last year's rules before this year's rules were released, I really do not consider that a re-write. I'm not defending anyone, but rather, trying to understand what is being discussed.
I would agree that a Q&A section seems strange and would indicate that the rules are not written well, but I would think its a good thing that they responded and clarified the rules now. It gives people the opportunity to comply. It would be far worse if they remained as they were and someone got turned away because of something in the Q&A section. I will say some of the rules are still odd preventing a lot of area scouts from participating (those that I would help be competitive) - the "no oil rule" and the "no bending rule" to be specific. They should consider changing those in the future, but at least they were responsive and removed the ambiguity. I still encourage the local area scouts to race at MA because of the rules and level of competition (you want to be the best, you have to beat the best, and that takes planning, dedication, and work), but isn't this a step in the right direction for the NYC race?
Stole that line from John![]()
Well it is good to see that everything is still clear as mud. I have never been less excited about a race before and if I hadn't promised my sons that we would race I would just skip it. All I am going to do is pull my bent axle and replace with a straight one and race pro because I do not have time to build two new cars from official kits by this Tuesday because of life.
We were driving down the road earlier today and I yelled at the car to make a left turn with my hands off the wheel. For some reason it did not. When asked why I did that, I told my wife this is how this race will be for us.
Good luck everyone who is going.
