so at some point im sending of a car or to to race with yall should I stick with the graphite for now or try oil out for the first time. can I even be competitive with graphite tell I get few races in and learn some more stuff

You can be competitive with graphite but that should not be your only reason for sending in a car. You should race to become competitive. It will come to you in levels the longer you race. You need to set goals as you go and learn. Believe me you will have fun all along the way. Learning to run oil is not an overnight thing it takes time and experimentation, the DVD is a must but it is a base for you to learn from and expand. Come race, you won't regret it.

thanks ill more than likely stay with what I know which ant much than go from their if I can run in the 3.0 ill be happy

Like SoGone says, set personal goals. Don't jump into league racing thinking you are going to win right off. I did and was humbled very quickly. All the info is here read and keep working on perfecting the process. And also what Kinser said start with the video it will help a ton!!!.

Like Knine57,Sending a car to race is also something I've thought about since I recently learned of such things. Gotta go to districts first. We are near the MId America coucnil, thought that looked like fun just to see some other cars and try to learn something.

im pretty sure ill get my tail handed to me for awhile kinda expect it but that's part of the fun learn and all that

k-9 i'm also new to this npwdrl forum. even though i have been building pine wood cars for a long while and did very well at local races i had no idea that these guys where out here! i whatched the feb.races on utube and couldnt peel myself away from the computer, these guys are fast! best thing i came up with is send in your best stuff see were we stand and just keep improving. we can chase each other through the amateur class and hopfully gain that golden pro status. we cant expect the top guys to tell us every thing they know but they do share alot of info. besides the reward is greater if you figure it out on your own. be prepaired to wear a path beside the practice track.my first investment was a new pair of sneakers... good luck ill be looking for ya!! Most important dont forget to support dd4h for all your supplies none of this would be here with out him..

I raced for the first time in the February race. I ran my car with graphite. I ran 2.99's all day. Finished 17th. I knew going that I wasn't going to win but I wanted to see were I was at. Really just wanted to set a base line for improving. I am getting my car converted over to oil. I just have to say these guy's on here will help you with anything and everything you want to know. I would not have raced if it weren't for these guy's. 5 Kids, Quicktime, Reso, Chief, and DD4H are the ones that helped me. I really don't think they hide their secrets they were very quick to help me and give me all the information I needed.

nice job firstimeracer saw your car run in feb race got to be pleased with sub three on your first time! thats my goal also but i do know its not all that easy. but no matter what i wont give up .congrats
