Thanks guys, keeping fingers crossed they run fast, looks are not important but speed is. But I try to build cars that look cool while ripping it!
Ngyong - the unique side fender inside body covers/ fins are to keep the dirty air out of the canted wheels. John's GEE fenders give protection from the front but expose the canted inside back wall of the DFW to catch air. I had to design and shape inside covers to block this air - my home made wind tunnel test is that I blow air from the front with a hair drier and adjust the angle of the fender and height of the cover until the DFW stops spinning!
Here's the challenge, with thin 1/4" bodies with tapered front end and small tip of the GEE fender you have to build a small balsa side wall for supporting the side cover and providing a surface to glue it on to! Here's where I use the Combo of CA gel glue and baby talcum powder followed by finger spreading and sanding until it all blends into a smooth surface. Then I attach the side cover cut out of airplane modeling plastic stuck with CA glue. Have fun building these takes time but very rewarding to see the DFW stop spinning and take on the hair drier test!
