There is a family outlaw race coming at the end of this month...there are only 2 rules..max weight is 5 oz and max length of 10" ....question is this...is the 10" overkill? Ive started a 10" ladder body and my thinking is that the 10" will be alot more push down the hill and thinking the extra leverage on the fdw would require less drift to keep it against the rail....anyone played with this theory?

Definitely max out whatever length you can. With only 5 oz spread out over 10" make sure the DFW weight doesn't get light. It will have greater leverage with the long wheelbase but you need to consider the racing surface too. Is the track in great shape or poor?

I havent seen this particular track in a couple years but as i recall its in fair shape...that being just a cut above poor...but i had thought about dropping 1 or two 1/4" cubes just in front of the FDW just so it doesnt bounce as much

I wouldn't put cubes that far forward, just build it like you normally would and check the DFW weight. Shift a cube or two forward in the front weight pocket to get the DFW weight where you want it. Putting cubes up front will likely make the front way too heavy.

I decided to also enter one of my other cars in case my Electric Slide had mechanical failure...the results were 1st and third place........my 82 year old dad came home with 4th as well as a best in show trophy....it was a great day at the track and some cool hardware.

Nice work man!!! You obviously had that class all wrapped up. Any chance of pics of your dad’s handiwork? Wouldn’t mind seeing close ups of the electrics too. Neat stuff.

Again, great work Ace!

The only photo i have of my dads car is before the wheels were added....all the lettering as well as the P.O.W. emblem were hand painted....they are not decals.....the electronic circut i cant show you either because its now glued inside the car... but its a simple circut that goes as follows:

Negitive leg of a dc motor to the neg side of a battery (i used an energizer A23 becuase its light, tiny and 12 volts)

From the pos side of the battery to a micro magnetic reed switch (thank you amazon)

From the reed switch to a micro toggle switch (for arming the circut once the car is resting on the pin)

From the toggle to the pos side of the dc motor....thats it...circut complete
