Ok, here i an area where i am lost. I see lots of cars that are smooth and slick looking, I know that there must be some sanding between coats and then a clear coat but I need steps on what to do. I have testors modelmaster paint from hobby lobby. I an get most grits of sandpaper I woul need. I just need the steps on what to do.

Thanks

It really kind of depends on what you are going for as far a what kind of style you are after...two tone, solid colors, metallics or whatever. I would recommend that you get your car the shape that you want it in and then I would sand the car to about 800 grit. Keep in mind that you only want to make about a 200 grit jump at a time so from 240 then 400, 600 then 800. This helps remove all of the scratches...now you need a good primer or wood sealer if you dont want the wood grain to show. Clean the car and you should be ready to paint...
