Anybody seeing any speed difference in the DD4H plastic fenders vs. the wooden ones? I will buy his and not make my own.

Thx,

Jim

My fastest SS last race had them on. I saw them on a lot of the top performing cars. For me the best thing with them is the ease, weight, and strength. I think they are pretty much impossible to break. Than again I've seen how some people ship their cars so a broken one might be in the future. I'll post if I ever see one.

I second what Q.T. said. Light, strong, easy to install, and they appear to perform very well.

I forgot. They seem to preform better in traffic than the others. It was the slowest of my 3 SS when raced by itself but was fastest in traffic.

I am curious if anyone has swapped out their wooden fenders for the new plastic ones on an existing car.

I am very nervous about breaking my Street Stock by trying to remove the wooden fenders.

I did this on one of my SS cars, but I only did the front fenders. I left the back ones alone, I just ran out of time to swap out the rear fenders. No matter what you do you'll have to be careful removing the wood fenders. I use balsa fenders and removal was a fairly easy task without any mishaps.

Personally I would just build another car.

If you don't care about damaging the wood fenders you could cut them off close to the body, then sand your way down easy the rest of the way.

I did so on all four wheels. Picked up 5 thousands on my own test track. However, the car I used is not a winner in league racing.

Just got a set in the mail today. They look kind of porous under the magnification light. Is anyone painting them/sanding/clearcoating? I've got my sons derby car from last year that I think with fenders and 2.0 wheels can definitely be a sub 3 or better car. Thanks for any feedback. Im thinking its time I finally did a proxy race.

I have a pink set for my daughters car. Any ideas on clear coating? I here there is an aerosol that works great. Others use clear nail polish. What are you using to attach them to the car?

Thanks
