Why don't more people post prices in their original post? I see, "PM for more info." Most forums with classified sections contain posts which include price. Is it because the items for sale also include some level of effort (labor cost)? I guess its hard to put a price on intangible commodities. I'd think you'd get a better response if you included prices with your posts. /images/boards/smilies/confused.gif

I put the price on the Street Pro I'm selling. I based the price on how old the car was, the condition of it, the original cost of putting it together and how fast of a car it is.

But since my car was not raced by some of the top racers in the class no one will buy it. I'll probably end up keeping it and the car will end up forgotten in some box somewhere.

I would agree that a good well built car should sell its self. But a lot of newer racers who are looking for that quick speed and or win will not buy a car from the mid pack racers like myself. They want the cars that the top racers have built.

Anyway it's not a big deal if it sells or not. I thought I would try to sell an extra car, at a fair price and maybe someone who is looking to try racing in the SP for the first time would get a nice car.

A mid-pack racer in this league can almost assuredly dominate anywhere else. Someone could get a really good deal if they understand that; but if someone here is looking to improve their position in the ranking, I'm not sure a mid-pack racer has much of a chance at selling a car.

From my perspective, getting closer to a mid-pack racer, I would no long er consider buying a car, any car, but I've made handsome offers in buying a single wheel and axle, for research purposes.

Don't sell yourself short - you're pretty fast (I'm trying to catch you myself). I think you could sell some cars, if you can make them pretty and find the right audience. You might try eBay...

I would stay for the Most part the reason Racers don't put price or much info is cause of all the Tire KICKERS, if someone is interested they will take the time to send a PM to get info other wise there not gonna buy anything.. If you want a winning car or top 5 car it's not cheap...BASX will run you 200-250 SS will run you 250-350, SP will run you 250-350, Eliminator will run you 250-350, Unlimited will run you 250-500... SR will run you 250-400.. Keep in mine this is race ready cars that run top 5 status.. I would say with cost of wheels & fenders etc.. You can add about $50-75 to the cost of each car class.. This is just a base line cost... Some might be more and some less... I personally think someone that's just starting out should maybe buy a weighted car and do the wheels and axles there self just to see where there at and what they need to do month to month to increase there speed .. Race your own times, take good notes and don't be afraid to try stuff... That being said... All the secrets of speed rest in the car and what the builder does..

What's the harm in an online tire kicker who is reading a post and gets to see what these little things sell for. I would think you would get less guys bugging you through a PM if they knew the price. It's not like guys are going to come to your home and look at the car, inspect for scratches and nickle and dime you. Hell, I'm just curious to see what they go for and with your post above you answered my question on what JBD cars go for, but I would like to see what all brands go for. Hey it's just one guy, everyone will do as they please. A sales tactic called "price conditioning" helps to avoid sticker shock, so now I will know what to expect. You make some dang fine cars JBD, I look up to you as a builder but I hope to one day look in the rear view and see you.

IMHO JBD is right on with pricing for a top 5 car in any class. I'm not going to be a top competitor for the balance of 2015 due to other commitments. But I have at least 1 top 5 car in each class, none of which would I ever sell for less than than JBD's prices.

HOWEVER, that being said, I have 10 UNLMs any of which I will sell for 500. If anybody is interested, PM me for a picture. You choose the body and wheels, I'll install a set of my best bearings (the best 6 out of a lot of 100).

ALSO, I have 8 SRs built to highest craftsmanship. Similar deal at 400. These are very similar to JBD's SR which he is selling (which BTW is an excellent car at a good price). Any of these c/b with or w/o wheels, but their value is really in the body.
