I'm using a PineCar Kit and I was wondering if the nails need polished. I wasn't sure because I know on some of the kits like BSA you have to polish the nails. Is polishing the nails necessary or will it just go faster?

I am also still new. but I believe polishing the axles will make it go faster but there is not a requirement to politics though it depends on what performance you would like.

Polished is better than raw. By how much, though? Dunno. If you're running graphite, a lesser polish may well be better than a full polish, as there will be more catch on the axle to hold onto graphite flakes.
Then again, we've (my sons and I) always polished our axles, even when running graphite, and won our district races.

I asked 5 kids something similar about scout axles, he replied.... I would polish from about 800 grit to 3000 grit exactly how I describe on my site. I wouldn’t use blue magic (its what I use)… I wouldn’t even use a polish.

I looked at polish reviews on youtube and blue magic shines more the brazo, but 3 pro's have all said not to use blue magic so I have stopped and got the final axle polish from DerbyDad. growing up we only went to 3000 and used jewelers pumus polish same whitish powder you can get at hobby shops. We always won 1st -3rd.
