Possible Last Race First Fenders

This is our fifth year in Scouts and possibly our last depending on life. We qualified for Districts and I want to see if I can build a better car one more time. My plan is to switch our pack car wheels with Rage wheels for a better start and to build two more cars using fenders.

The district rules do not say that I have to run our pack cars, just the car has to be built this year.
The other difference is wheel base is between 4.25 and 4.5 inches.

I have been digging through old posts and some of the videos to learn. So far my questions are:

What is the preferred wheel base with the Gee fenders? I already have those but didn't get to use them at pack.
Dominant side notch: remove a 1/16 the entire car length?
Steering: the typical 4 to 5 inches per 4 feet for Scouts?

I believe this should be a 42 ft best track but I will have to find video.

Any other other words of wisdom? The race is Mar 21.

Thank you for reading.

Go with 4.5 wheelbase if that is longest your allowed. Don't shave 1/16 off entire side. When I shave a 1/16 of DFW side I mark a line on body from front nose to about 1/4" past the wheel. From end of that line I use a ruler to angle line towards back corner of the body. If your car is thin and you ise tungsten cubes and back axles are drilled canted 3 deg then 5 inches of steer is good place to start.

Thank you for the post.

I do the same thing on my cars. I guess I was wondering if the fenders had to be in line with one another. Would their position affect how the air washes over the car if that makes any sense.

Or does a 1/16 in width difference matter.
