So... so total weight im at 5.2oz standard scout race(5oz).

1. We are doing a skin this yr for his car. To apply it says to use a very wet sponge and press it on. Worried the car will soak up excuses water and be heavy MORE. Has any one used a food dehydrator after a skin to pull all moisture out? Should I spray paint a clearcoat first to that last water will soak up but it will still stick to the car? Like a primer?

2. I do have a decent amount of car wood i can Dremel out of the underside. But right now my COG is at 7/8 from rear. Where should i start to remove first??

I wouldn't recommend using a dehydrator on your car. I would be worried about it warping
If you plan on using a skin or vinyl cover, you can always hollow out the bottom of the car to get it back to weight. Just be sure to cover the hole with packaging tape or a vinyl cover.

I would paint or seal the car before applying the wrap. You'll squeeze out most of the water applying the wrap.

We used one of those wraps our first year in Scouts. Without a base coat, the car soaked up tons of water and was way over weight. We set it on our fireplace mantle for 2 days to get it back down to weight, but I’m sure we warped it as well. Wouldn’t have mattered that year because we had so much else to learn and work on, but we never touched those wet transfer things again. Lol

We just scan/draw or download any picture we want on the car, print it on a sticker sheet and put that on the car, no waiting for stuff to dry. If you really want to finish it off nicely (but will also increase weight) you can cover it with clear packaging tape, which you can sand down (finish with 2000 grit and steel wool 0000) to get a nice smooth finish.
