Sooo its cubscout derby time again....after viewing the " cool cars " y'all build on here, my son (bear scout) and daughter (tiger cub) have both elected to build ladder cars with fenders...i have never built such a car and am looking for some help. It seems that the popular consensus is 12 cubes behind the rear axles the rest in front...our rules state that stock wheelbase must be used and in stock location (with dimentions from both ends of the block) we can redrill but have to hold the stock dimensions. Question is this...without moving the rear axle back would you still run 12 behind the rear axle? And if its a typical 1/4" wedge what kind of COM can i expect? (roughly)

Well, if you look up my post originally from last years scout car build (stock wheelbase)... We ran roughly a .5" COM in front of the rear. This year we went even more aggressive roughly .4" COM and the car was squirrely (needed more steer 6" over 4 ft) to keep it in line. It had a 2.1 oz block behind the rear axle. Too much IMO. Next year we will be running cubes or a 1.9 oz block behind. Don't get me wrong, it was very fast but unnecessary given the $ differential...
